The big news on the calendar this week is Thanksgiving at Sondreson Hall on Thursday, November 24th. Here is the announcement with details… Come join your North Fork neighbors at Sondreson Hall for our annual Thanksgiving potluck dinner. Turkey and ham will be provided. Please bring a side dish and your own table setting. The doors open at 3 p.m. and dinner is served at 4 p.m.   Hosts: Steve & Christina Berg

Celebration of Carl Pittman’s Life

The Pittmans are inviting their neighbors and friends from the North Fork to a celebration of Carl’s life on Friday, July 8th, starting at Noon. Please bring a side dish to share at a pot luck lunch. Also please bring a folding chair if you have one. Come and share your memories with Carl’s friends. The address is 9340 North Fork Road.

Birding on the North Fork – Last Business Meeting of the Year

This coming Saturday, October 3rd, starting at 7PM at Sondreson Community Hall, Donna Harrison will speak on Birding on the North Fork. Donna’s talk will be followed by the last NFLA business meeting of the year starting at 8PM. Come join your friends and neighbors for this interesting talk and meeting.

August Community River Floats

At the NFLA Business Meeting last Saturday evening, Carol Groebe announced that the Community River Float scheduled for Thursday August 13th would take place. Anyone who is interested in helping plan the float is invited to join Carol at the Northern Lights Saloon on Monday August 10th at 1PM. The decision regarding when and where for the float will be announced on the bulletin boards at the Polebridge Mercantile, Home Ranch Bottoms, and outside of Sondreson Community Hall. Carol also said that the float scheduled for August 28th would most likely be canceled due to low water, but check back on the bulletin boards for more information.

Firewise Day 2015 Agenda

Firewise signThe North Fork’s annual Firewise Day will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 from 9:30 – noon in Sondreson Community Hall. The Firewise workshop will precede the Summer Interlocal meeting. The program is timely and tailored to what is expected to be a very active fire season in Western Montana, given the record-setting warm and dry conditions this summer. 2015 NFLA Spring Newsletter is Here

The 2015 NFLA Spring Newsletter is completed and on its way. Folks who have paid their 2015 dues will receive their newsletter in the mail soon. Everyone is invited to check out this year’s newsletter as well as newsletters from years past on the NFLA Newsletter page.

This year’s newsletter includes a letter from NFLA President Karen McDonough, information about square dancing on the North Fork from Debo Powers, the 2015 Firewise Day and hazardous fuels grant from Molly Shepherd, and much more.

The mailed newsletter also includes a 2015 calendar. Calendar events can also be viewed on the Calendar page. This page will be updated throughout the year as new events are added or dates/times of current events change.

Don’t have internet to check for changes? Don’t worry, you can check the local NFLA Bulletin Boards. All new information and/or changes to the calendar will be posted. One of the boards is located between the Merc and the Northern Lights Saloon and the other is at the entrance to Home Ranch Bottoms Store. They will be kept updated. Don’t miss out, keep informed!

University of Montana returns to the North Fork

The University of Montana returns to the North Fork from Sunday January 18 until Friday January 23. And the usual Monday night program by Rick and Susie Graetz – Monday January 19 at 6:30 PM in the Community Center – will be presented. This event this year features a new version of “This Is Montana.”

THIS IS MONTANA

It’s been called an Uncommon Land, High Wide and Handsome, the Treasure State. The Land of the Shining Mountains and Big Sky Country…whatever the label, this Montana is a grand mix of geography and history – time and space go well together in this corner of America. NFLA Sondreson Hall Fall Maintenance Schedule

Members are taking advantage of the cooler weather to perform some maintenance at Sondreson Hall.  Following is the schedule:

  • Help with moving – On Wednesday, September 10th, a few folks are needed to help put the kitchen back together after the floor work in that area has been completed.  Work will begin around 4PM.
  • Minor repairs and oiling – On Tuesday, September 16th, folks are asked to come help with some minor repairs to Sondreson Hall, including flicker damage and oiling the logs on the south side.  Work with begin around noon.
  • Major work – On Friday, September 19th, a major work day has been scheduled for Sondreson Hall including starting construction on the back porch, raking gravel, and putting the stove back in place for the winter.  Work will begin a 9AM and go throughout the day.  Please bring work gloves, a rake, and your lunch.

We want to say a special thanks to all the folks who plan and supervise these work parties.  Sondreson Hall is in the best shape its been in years due to their efforts.

Tree Farm Newsletter and Annual Tree Farm Meeting

The Annual Tree Farm Meeting will be held on Saturday, October 11. The group will be meeting at Sondreson Community Hall at 10AM before proceeding on to the Chrisman and Hoiland Tree Farms, then returning to the Hall for the lunch, Business Meeting, and Awards. This meeting is open to the public – anyone wanting more information on the Tree Farm program is welcome to attend. Registration is $25 per person, $12.50 for children under 16. With Registration both lunch and snacks are provided.

Both the Hoiland and Chrisman Tree Farms will be visited – so don’t miss an opportunity to check out what is going on at your neighbor’s!
